What Clockar is#
Clockar.com is a free website for checking the exact time anywhere in the world. It started as a single clock and grew into a small set of tools: a live world clock, a time zone converter, a meeting planner, an online timer and a stopwatch. The blog explains how time, time zones and clocks work, and how people came to measure time the way they do.
In October 2026 the site moved from its earlier name and address, Timelive at timelive.org, to Clockar at clockar.com: a name that is easier to say, remember and type, with a .com address, and one that fits the full set of tools better than "time" alone. Links to the old address redirect to the same page on clockar.com.
The site has no ads and no accounts. It is plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, so pages load quickly and work on any device. To see how many people use the site and which pages help them, we use Google Analytics, added through Cloudflare Zaraz. What the site stores on your device, and how analytics works, is in the privacy policy.
Where the numbers come from#
- Time zone rules come from the IANA time zone database, the same data used by operating systems and phones. Your browser applies those rules, so daylight saving changes are handled for the exact date you ask about.
- Exact time is checked against the Clockar server clock. The home page shows how far your own device clock is from it, so you can see whether your device is accurate.
- Places (cities, countries, coordinates) come from GeoNames, licensed CC BY 4.0.
Who writes the articles#
Articles are published under the byline Clockar Editorial Team. We do not invent personal author profiles or credentials. Articles are researched and drafted with the help of AI writing tools, then checked before publication against the public sources listed at the bottom of each article. Facts that can be computed, such as a UTC offset or the date a daylight saving change happens, are calculated from the IANA time zone data instead of being written from memory.
The editorial policy sets out exactly how we choose sources, what we check, when we update an article and how we fix mistakes.
Independence#
Clockar is independent. We do not accept payment for articles, we do not run sponsored posts and we do not use affiliate links. When an article points to one of our own tools, we say so.
Found a mistake?#
Time is unforgiving, and we want to get it right. If you spot an error in a page or an article, tell us and we will check it against the sources and correct it. Corrections are shown through the "Updated" date on the article. Our process is described in the editorial policy.
